Digitalization
With their expertise and technology, members of the water industry can help customers take both small and large steps to advance in digitalization.
Clean water is a finite resource. Waste and leakage must be reduced, treatment must be made more efficient. In the Water Industry, we are convinced that digitalization and the introduction of new technology and knowledge are necessary to ensure water supply in a growing Sweden and a world where climate change is increasing rapidly.
Digitalization can help by:
- find leaks and energy thieves to prevent waste
- optimize chemical consumption and reduce emissions
- make problems visible and thereby increase understanding of their origin, scope and costs
- make data-driven decisions, which gives you faster and better action power
- bringing together large amounts of data from several areas to get a better picture of reality and to understand the consequences of different interventions
The members of the water industry can use their expertise and technology to support taking both small and large steps to move forward in digitalization. We see that there is a skills shortage in the market, but we also believe that a lot can be done with the resources that already exist. To get started with digitalization, we urge the industry to:
- start with small digitalization steps using the technology available
- identify problems and prioritize what will produce a large impact and cost savings with a small effort
- take help from the Water Industry's collective expertise
- collaborate with other water and sanitation companies and benefit from each other's experiences
Within the focus area of digitalization, the Water Industry wants the following:
- Many decisions are made on assumptions. The right decision is based on the right data. Digitalization leads to increased business benefit through efficiency, reduced costs, increased operational reliability and fewer disruptions.
- Digitalization requires skills. Create an attractive workplace to attract the employees of the future. Increase the pace of digitalization. Start with what you have and take small steps with a big impact.
- Collaboration is important for effective change work in digitalization. This applies both between departments within the water and sanitation companies, between different water and sanitation companies and with the water industry.
The water industry supports digitalization efforts and contributes to development in Sweden. We have the tools if you have the will for change and improvement!
