The water industry takes initiative to support micro-enterprises in water and sanitation
To promote innovation, growth and sustainability, the Water Industry is taking the initiative to support micro-enterprises with valuable resources. A relevant business network can be crucial for new companies to grow stronger faster. With a customized membership that includes mentoring support, increased diversification will be secured for the water of the future.
The water industry has identified a need for smaller and innovative companies in the water and sanitation sector to gain access to a relevant business network earlier in their development journey. With increased access to the water and sanitation market and by facilitating collaborations and partnerships with established players, micro-enterprises can grow faster. Typically, the opportunity to invest in a membership arises when companies have advanced beyond the stage where they need the support that mentoring by established companies can offer. At the same time, the water and sanitation sector needs to embrace new thinking and new initiatives.
– Membership in the Water Industry includes access to an important network and exchange of expertise from a wide range of companies in the industry. Through access to industry experience and knowledge of opportunities, we can support micro-enterprises to avoid pitfalls and achieve growth more quickly, says Joachim Jämttjärn, Secretary General, Water Industry.
The water industry believes that innovation is crucial in the industry for several reasons. Climate change is affecting water availability and quality, and innovative solutions are needed to adapt to these changes. In addition, much of Sweden's water infrastructure is outdated and needs to be repaired or replaced. Innovation can help create more resilient and sustainable water systems, reducing the risk of water shortages, water pollution and other water-related disasters. The water industry will encourage micro-enterprises to adopt a sustainability perspective, which is crucial to ensuring sustainable and resource-efficient water supply systems.
– Water is a circular resource and as the population grows and demand increases, innovative solutions are needed to manage this resource more efficiently. Innovation can help reduce current water losses, improve water quality and increase access to clean water for more people. In a changing world and with increased digitalization, there is also an increased need for innovative solutions for physical and digital security, says Joachim Jämttjärn further.
The customized membership for micro businesses will be offered starting in the 2024 financial year.
