The water industry arranges forums for important water issues

The recent years, which have brought with them a pandemic, major disruptions in global supply chains and wars close to home in Europe, have shown the importance of a constant conversation about our most important food. On November 29-30, 2022, the Swedish Water Industry will arrange a forum for future issues in water for the first time.

In addition to the need to discuss how we secure the operation and delivery of the components needed to ensure our vital drinking water, we also need to talk about our climate linked to water and the fact that despite the need to invest 460 billion in water and sanitation, many procurements are being canceled unnecessarily.

”"New conditions such as climate change, ongoing densification of our cities, skills shortages, increased need for digitalization and automation and, not least, civil defense in the event of geopolitical unrest place high demands on the water and sanitation industry. It is therefore important that the entire industry works together to solve the issues."” says Anette Seger, Chairman of the Water Industry.

The pandemic has greatly affected how we work, meet and do business and has reinforced the need for a new industry forum where dialogue, future issues and the meeting are in focus.

”"”We are product and system developers in one of the world's most important areas, treating and delivering water. We have a lot of expertise in HOW to solve the specific challenges and it is not until a wastewater treatment or waterworks has invested in and installed a solution that the water becomes cleaner and safer. Many times the road to get there feels unnecessarily long, winding and expensive. Now we want to help raise awareness among politicians and decision-makers about WHAT can and needs to be done.” says John Skantze, Vice Chairman, Water Industry.

At the Water Industry Forum 2022, the focus will be on the following three challenges, which will be highlighted from different aspects through short talks and in-depth conversations where several levels within the Water Industry attack a common challenge.

  • Threats and security
  • Sustainable procurement
  • Providing skills to the industry

The water industry took on its new name in 2021 and is now moving forward with facilitating these, for members, urgent issues to discuss.

”"”The water industry is a trade association for everyone active in the water industry. We are facing major investment needs and challenges in the industry. This means new issues where we as an association and our member companies have a lot to contribute.”, says Joachim Jämttjärn, Secretary General of the Water Industry.

The Water Industry Forum will be arranged on November 29-30, 2022 at Posthuset in Stockholm.
