Securitas new members in the Water Industry
Securitas is a new member of the Water Industry and a world-leading partner in intelligent security solutions. We took the opportunity to ask Jens Granath, Marketing Manager for Securitas Sweden, a few questions about their view on security related to water.
– Securitas Sverige AB is an industry leader in security solutions and has played an active role in the development of the industry since its inception in 1934. From north to south, we protect homes, work and society and are the employer of nearly 10,000 employees. We offer tailored security solutions where we combine personal services with technical solutions to ensure that our customers are protected in the best possible way. We have many assignments where we protect critical infrastructure, not least the water supply in many places.
Why did you choose to become members of the Water Industry?
– Thanks to our collected data and geographical spread both within Sweden and internationally, we have been able to see a significant increase in crimes linked to the water production chain. This situation led Securitas to decide to invest in water security within its own business segment, to ensure that we offer the right services and expertise to meet the challenges.
What challenges do you solve for your customers?
– Every municipality, municipal association and company has its own unique risks. Through a qualified risk inventory where we take into account different risks in combination with the conditions that each unique geographical address has from the beginning, we draw up, for example, a three-year plan with the customer. At a specific address, it may be a matter of prioritizing physical locks with traceability in key management in year one. In year two, we may replace the burglar alarm whose age can no longer ensure satisfactory function. In year three, we review the possibilities for real-time connected alarm cameras for early detection and storage for determining the cause/investigation after a ”break-in” at the object. The next object in the chain has different conditions, risks and input values and will receive its own unique three-year plan. We will not solve everything at once. We want to focus on and live with the customer for a long time and together shape the security that will minimize the risks for the customer over time. Ensure that the customer meets the requirements of security protection laws, lives up to their own risk and vulnerability analyses, the Swedish National Food Administration's security requirements, and so on.
What do you consider to be the most important issue for the water industry?
– As a company in the security industry, it is natural to spread the message that water production is a risk. A risk for everyone, large and small producers. Although each component and location has its own unique risk, there are solutions. Many have come a long way, others have not even started. We hope to learn more about the other challenges!
What do you want to contribute to the Water Industry?
– Protection and security, that's where our expertise lies. Draw attention to the fact that Securitas/the security industry has good knowledge of the various risks in the water-producing operations that are conducted and clearly convey that solutions exist.
