Robert Andersson, Aqua Robur, new to the board

In connection with the Water Industry Association's spring meeting, Robert Andersson, Aqua Robur Technologies, was elected as a new member of the Water Industry Association's board. We asked Robert why he wants to get involved in positive developments in the industry.

– I am passionate about accelerating the digitalization of the water and sanitation sector – both in Sweden and internationally. Through my work at Aqua Robur, I have seen the difference modern IoT solutions can make for more efficient, data-driven and sustainable water management. I hope to contribute with experiences from innovation, international growth and how new technology can be scaled up in a traditional industry.

Aqua Robur Technologies was founded by two Chalmers students in 2015 with an idea to contribute to a smarter water infrastructure using innovative technology where real-time data provides control and helps detect leaks, monitor emergency releases or investigate make-up water.

What challenges do you see today and how do you think the board of the Water Industry can help to address these challenges?

– We are facing a tough challenge in the form of aging infrastructure and increased climate-related stresses. At the same time, there is often a lack of resources and incentives to change. The board can play an important role in driving collaboration between technology suppliers, municipalities and decision-makers and, for example, highlighting concrete cases where digital solutions are yielding results.

How do you see the future of sustainable and resilient water management?

– Sustainable and resilient water management requires that we dare to think new things, both in terms of technology, working methods and collaboration. Digitalization is a key to enabling the system change that is required. By using real-time data and smart analysis, we can optimize maintenance, reduce water losses and make better decisions. The board should prioritize knowledge dissemination, standardization and innovation-promoting efforts so that more actors dare to take the step.

We warmly welcome Robert Andersson to the Water Industry Board!
