Malmberg are new members of the Water Industry

Malmberg are new members of the Water Industry and their area is groundwater. They no longer work with the construction of treatment plants – that is with ELIQUO MALMBERG WATER AB who are also members of the Water Industry. We took the opportunity to interview Viktor Ekberg who is responsible for communications at Malmberg.

Tell us about Malmberg

Malmberg is an environmental technology company with solutions in water, energy and well drilling. A fifth-generation family business with over 155 years of experience that has made us the market leader in our areas of expertise and with a strong focus on sustainability and the environment. Clean drinking water starts in the ground, and there we are deep in the water supply chain: drilling, well development, safety-classified superstructures, pipe systems, tanks and reconditioning of wells. Most of it is manufactured in our production unit Malmberg Industrial Design, where we build everything from pipe galleries to complete stainless steel installations. In addition, we have specialist knowledge in energy storage, heat recovery, energy sharing and energy efficiency that supports municipalities' goals for more sustainable operation.

Why did you choose to become members of the Water Industry?

– So that the entire water sector is connected. Treatment plants, pipelines, wells, energy and operations. Everything is dependent on each other. We come from the drilling side and see how important a safe water source is for the rest of the system to function. As a member, we get to be involved and influence, share knowledge and contribute to the change that is required when Sweden builds the water infrastructure of the future.

What challenges do you solve for your customers?

– We create a secure drinking water supply. This involves more and deeper wells, higher capacity, emergency water solutions, redundancy and installations that also work in drought, flood or crisis situations. We take responsibility for the entire chain: from drilling to completed installation and ready-to-operate systems.

What do you consider to be the most important issue for the water industry?

• Skills supply
• Collaboration between actors
• Resilient water solutions
• Innovation and new technology
• Smart procurement
• A clear industry voice in the social debate

What issues are you particularly passionate about at Malmbergs?

• Stable drinking water supply – regardless of location
• War and emergency water preparedness
• More and better groundwater wells
• Modern reconditioning that extends service life and capacity
• Superstructures and installations that hold up to reality
• Energy efficiency throughout the chain

What do you want to contribute to the Water Industry?

– We want to contribute with robust solutions – both underground and above ground. We want to highlight the importance of raw water and water sources in the larger water supply structure and get more people to think long-term: from groundwater to finished drinking water.

And we want to be the partner that makes water sources stronger, more flexible and more resilient when it is really needed.

We warmly welcome you to the Water Industry!
