Johanna Norup, Purac, new to the board

In connection with the Water Industry Association's spring meeting, Johanna Norup, Purac, was elected as a new member of the Water Industry Association's board. We asked Johanna what made her accept, what challenges she sees and what she believes is needed to overcome them.

– I am passionate about achieving sustainable solutions in society and think that what we are working on in the Water Industry contributes to that. While the need is incredibly great, the entire Swedish water and sanitation sector is facing a number of challenges such as increased preparedness, a large investment debt and a lack of expertise, Johanna Norup answers the question of why she accepted the role as a board member for the Water Industry.

Johanna brings with her experience from procurements and projects from Purac who are experts in designing, developing and constructing facilities and processes within clean water, biogas and sewage.

– What I often encounter in my everyday life is connected to procurement and projects for wastewater treatment and water treatment facilities. I want to contribute by identifying and driving change to reduce obstacles on the way so that together we can overcome the challenges we have ahead of us while at the same time having a working environment where both the client and the contractor/supplier feel good.

What challenges do you see today and how do you think the board of the Water Industry can help to address these challenges?

– The great need for investments in water and wastewater facilities and increased requirements regarding safety, preparedness and actual emissions combined with a lack of expertise at all levels is an incredible challenge we face. What the board can contribute is to open up dialogue and spread the knowledge that exists, but above all to attract more talent to the industry.

How do you see the future of sustainable and resilient water management?

– I believe the key to success is collaboration. I think the Water Industry should be a catalyst for collaboration and increased knowledge in the industry. We need each other and if we collaborate, it leads to cost-effective projects where the resources go to developing our water management but also all colleagues in the industry in the best way.

We warmly welcome Johanna Norup to the Water Industry Board!
