Differences in responsibility, risk and economics in water and sanitation projects

When procuring and implementing water and sanitation projects, different forms of agreement are often encountered that govern the contract and product deliveries. These agreements are designed with different starting points and can therefore lead to differences in responsibility, risk allocation and financial conditions.

This document aims to clarify these differences in a clear and educational way, to facilitate understanding and create better conditions for cooperation between parties. The aim is to create an increased understanding of differences between the agreements, highlight key risk areas and inform dialogue between clients, contractors and suppliers.
