The Water Industry Internship Program aims to attract young people to an industry filled with exciting opportunities in many areas, from technical challenges to major societal issues. You will have a summer you will never forget!

Sommaren 2026 kommer Vattenindustrin Internship Program tillbaka. Under några sommarveckor får du som är student på universitet, högskola eller yrkeshögskola prova på hur det är att arbeta med vatten utifrån flera olika spännande perspektiv och roller i ett betalt Internship Program. I år kommer vistelseorten att vara Göteborg/Halmstad.

Program & structure

In 2025, there was the opportunity to choose between two different locations, Gothenburg and Stockholm. The program involved four companies and water and sanitation organizations in each area from different parts of the water industry, which provides a unique insight.

The selected participants together visited the companies and VA organizations for lectures, study visits, case studies and workshops.

In parallel, the group worked on a joint project assignment. The results of the assignment were presented to the industry in connection with the Water2025 Meeting Point at the Swedish Exhibition and Congress Center in Gothenburg.

About the Water Industry Internship Program:

  • 4 weeks during the summer of 2026 (split between June & August)
  • 4 students studying at university, college or university of applied sciences level per place of residence
  • 4 companies and VA organizations per place of residence

Practical information:

  • Location: When applying, you can specify one or more desired places of residence. Here we expect that you can arrange accommodation during the period. There may be shorter and longer trips. In cases where overnight accommodation is required at a place other than the place of residence, we will cover the accommodation costs.
  • Application deadline: March 3, 2026, selection is ongoing
  • Access: June 2026
  • Salary is paid for the summer weeks that the program is in progress.

We are looking for you as: 

  • Are curious to learn more about water, you do not need to have previous experience in the industry
  • Fortfarande studerar, men har kommit en bit i din universitets-, högskole- eller yrkeshögskoleutbildning men inte går sista året på utbildningen
  • Have good communication skills and are easy to work with in a team
  • Have good knowledge of Swedish and English

Preliminary dates to note:

  • March 3: Application deadline
  • April: Interviews, information meeting
  • June: Kick-off
  • 4 weeks spread over June & August: Schemat för Vattenindustrin Internship Program kommer att förläggas till veckorna 24, 26, 33 & 34
  • August: Evaluation meeting & first presentation of thematic work
  • November: Genre rep (digital)
  • November: Final presentation, Stockholm
