Why is the Police involved in a preparedness event focusing on water and sewage?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n As a preparedness agency, the Police depend on water, sewage and other basic infrastructure to function in order to be able to fulfill our mission. At the same time, we have an important role when it comes to the safety of critical facilities and the people who work there. At FORUM26 we have the opportunity to meet, share each other's perspectives and increase understanding of what we can contribute - together.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Why is it important that water and sewage systems work even during crises and wars?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n An important goal is that society should continue to function as usual as far as possible. Even in times of crisis and war. When people can go to work, send their children to school and get water from the tap, there will be less anxiety and chaos. The police can then devote more resources to protecting essential services and meeting antagonistic threats. Since all of society's important institutions are completely dependent on functioning water and sewage, preparedness work is absolutely crucial. Here, all actors in the chain have a great responsibility.<\/p>\n\n\n\n What is required for collaboration to work?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n Communication and a common situational picture are key. Actors need to understand what is happening in their own operations, in others and in society at large. Everyone also needs to work preventively, detect deviations and strengthen their resilience. This work must be done before the crisis occurs. Therefore, FORUM26 is an important opportunity to meet, share perspectives and build the understanding needed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n What do you hope FORUM26 will contribute?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n The most important thing is that we do this together. The vital functions of society will not work if we do not support and help each other. All actors need to be involved and everyone must contribute.<\/p>\n\n\n\n I also look forward to understanding the VA sector better and learning about other perspectives and expectations of the Police Authority: what we can contribute and what role we have in the overall picture.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
