In connection with the Water Industry Association's spring meeting, Filip Dahlstr\u00f6m, HMS Networks, was elected as a new member of the Water Industry Association's board. Filip has been co-opted to the board since the autumn meeting of 2025. We asked Filip what made him accept, what challenges he sees and what he believes is needed to overcome them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u2013 Water is one of our most important resources, and I see the water industry as one of the most crucial industries for the future. I accepted the board assignment because I want to strengthen the industry's development, increase collaboration and be involved in driving innovation in sustainable water management. It is also an opportunity to contribute with experiences from the industry and at the same time learn from other committed people who share the same vision of the future.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u2013 We are facing several major challenges. Climate change means both an increased risk of water shortages and extreme weather, which places higher demands on robust infrastructure. At the same time, there is a great need for investments in existing facilities and pipeline networks, while we need to attract the next generation of expertise to the industry. To meet these challenges, we need to work together. We need to continue investing in digitalization, smart solutions and new technology that makes water management more efficient, safe and sustainable. I believe that knowledge exchange and collaboration will be crucial to succeeding in this.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
How do you see the future of sustainable and resilient water management?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n I already see how new technology, better data analysis and increased automation are creating opportunities to use our water resources in a more sustainable way. Resilient water management is not only about meeting today's needs but also about building systems that can handle the challenges of the future.
